OFFICE LOCATION: DALLAS, TEXAS
Welcome to my website. I hope it will provide you helpful information on my career, areas of specialization, other legal capabilities and my community, travel and other interests, including my favorite non-profits. I hope it is all interesting and I’m always happy to take your questions or comments. For this information, also please click on Resume.
I primarily represent physicians in corporate, business and regulatory matters but my background enables me to provide legal services in other areas, such as trademark and copyright protection.

Scott Chase
I have practiced corporate, international, intellectual property and health law for over 30 years. While I’m currently a solo practitioner, I have served as General Counsel for 2 public companies, Dr Pepper Company and Republic Health Corporation. In 2002, I was among the initial 29 Texas lawyers to be Board Certified in Health Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Over the years, I have chaired the Corporate Counsel Section of the Dallas Bar Association, its Health Law Section and its Solo and Small Firm Section. In 1982, I served as President of the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers.
My primary focus is business transactions for physicians and healthcare facilities, as well as regulatory issues such as HIPAA and peer review. My clients include a large orthopedic surgery group, a multi-specialty clinic, medical directors for dialysis units and psychiatric facilities and a general hospital. I also serve as a Board Member and Secretary for the North Central Texas Health Facilities Corporation, the issuer of tax-exempt bonds for healthcare facilities in the Metroplex.
I also handle general corporate matters and trademark/copyright issues for a variety of non-healthcare clients. Representative clients include beverage and food manufacturers and retail stores.
Because of my experience in all these fields, I have served as an arbitrator, for both AAA and JAMS, in health reimbursement issues and intellectual property disputes, and as a mediator in peer review disputes. I have also been retained as an expert in physician contracting litigation.
I am proud to be listed on the TexasMonthly Super Lawyers list, as published by Law and Politics Magazine, for Healthcare Law for 2009-2010. To find other lawyers on the Super Lawyers list, both in Texas and in other states, go to www.superlawyers.com.
I am also proud that I have been selected by my peers for inclusion in the 2010 edition of The Best Lawyers in America® in the areas of Corporate Law and Health Care Law. This is my fourth year for that honor. You can find other such lawyers on www.BestLawyers.com.
As a proud graduate of the University of Houston, undergraduate and law school, I hope you will visit its website for more information about what may become the next Tier I university in Texas (www.uh.edu). I graduated as a Distinguished Military Graduate and I’m proud to be a US Army Veteran (1Lt, Military Intelligence and Legal Officer, 1971-73). I hope you will always honor our men and women who serve so bravely and remember our veterans when they need our support.
